Pearls and girls – no two are ever the same!
Isn't it great to know that pearls, like girls, come in different shapes, colours and sizes.
Pearls are synonymous with style and elegance and have been a long-standing favourite with powerful women. Some of our favourites include Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton. However, it is worth remembering that one of the most famous pearls in the world belongs to the exotic sitter in Johannes Vermeer’s oil painting, aptly entitled The Girl with a Pearl Earring. The pearl in the painting is very oversized but its lustre and luminosity somehow accentuates the delicate features of the girl’s face and the fact that she doesn’t appear to be wearing a matching one leads us to believe that this girl was very fashion forward in how she wore her jewellery. She knew her styling choice would add drama and an element of mystery. Obviously, we just surmising and we don’t actually know if the large pearl was an intentional choice by either the sitter or the artist, but considering the name of the painting, we’re in no doubt that the pearl made a huge impact. So, I guess the moral of the story is, never underestimate the power of a girl wearing pearls.
With this in mind, we have included freshwater pearls in our fine jewellery collection. We have chosen contemporary settings for our pearls proving that a classic can remain relevant in the style stakes. All of our pearl earrings are set into 9ct solid gold giving them a luxurious finish and ensuring that they will last a lifetime. We have All About the Pearl Earrings, Gold Hoop Pearl Earrings, Hooked on Pearls Earrings, Gold Swirl Pearl Earrings and Gold and Fold Pearl Earrings There are also two pearl pendants in the collection. Our Pearly White Pendant and Pearl in the Moon Pendant. These are set into Sterling Silver and we’ve added delicate white cubic zirconias to each distinctive design ensuring that those craving a classic but contemporary twist aren’t left behind. If you’re interested in becoming a girl with a pearl earring or earrings, we’d love if you would consider a style from our collection. You can see our full range of jewellery at www.oscargraves.com.
