Pearse Curran, Creative Director of Oscar Graves, grew up in a working class family enclave of two-storey terraced houses nestled amongst a typical sprawling Dublin suburb. It is this upbringing that causes his internal struggle with being outwardly ambitious and has instilled an instinctive reluctance to appreciate or even acknowledge how successful Oscar Graves is becoming.
Aged 19 and armed only with a comprehensive education, his wits and a small bit of Dublin charm; Pearse began his career working for a small watch distributor based in the capital. Pearse set out on a journey into the world of jewellery that he had never planned but as he immersed himself into his first role in the industry, Pearse realised that he had an eye and a mind that had something to offer.
Despite humble beginnings, Pearse‘s drive, energy and a willingness to succeed, enabled him to forge his way through the ranks of the industry and subsequently went on to buy a company that he had invested ten years of his career in; turning it into one of the largest jewellery distributors in the British Isles, a position held for over 5 years. Supplying over 350 retail jewellers across the UK and Ireland with different collections created in all precious metals, Pearse, secured and refined his reputation as one of the trade’s leading design innovators.
His direct experience and close relationships with the world’s best manufacturers subsequently led him to move on and concentrate solely on design and brand creation.
With over two decades of fine jewellery experience, Pearse has now worked on a number of highly successful collaborations with fashion designers, celebrities and high street retailers accumulating the skills and knowledge to become one of the leading design innovators in the jewellery industry. The success of these brands coaxed him to take the next logical step and has forced him out of the shadows.
Oscar Graves, however, is a little bit different. Pearse has focused the last 2 years of his career designing and creating, what can only be considered as the most stylish, unconventional and unique collection of 18ct gold gents rings available anywhere across the globe.
Words will not accurately describe these pieces. They really need to be seen to be appreciated. Bold sophistication with a calm retro feel may go some way to explaining what these designs represent but one can’t help being constantly drawn to the word ‘style’.
Oscar Graves are not only the most stylish 18ct fine gents rings available today, they redefine men’s fine jewellery design to which all other brands must now try to emulate.
